Lessons from the Spirit Rover Print E-mail

THE BACKPAGE: LESSONS FROM "SPIRIT ROVER" -- As we were putting the finishing touches on this edition of "Brigada Today", NASA's "Spirit Rover" touched down on Mars and promptly sent its telltale tones, thereby signaling a successful landing. It was an exciting event, watching the members of the Mars Exploration Rover team react to Spirit's landing on Mars. I immediately went upstairs to tell Caleb, our 14-year-old, about the landing. "How long did it take, Dad?" "Well, the mission has been in planning for years, but the flight itself took about seven months," I answered. "Whoa. Seven Months. Planning for years," Caleb pondered. He looked me straight in the eye: "Can you imagine going to work every day for years, hoping for something that you won't be able to see, wishing that it would come true, then finally hearing that it happened?"

What is Partnering? Print E-mail

“How to Run the Race God’s Way”

God is simply inviting us to join hands with Him and with one another in His work to complete His “End Vision” (Rev 7:9). In this place all believers must obey HIs commands  to ’go’ and make disciples of the nations”v18  and ” teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you” v20. The Cost of Partnership Print E-mail

THE COST OF PARTNERSHIP: We choose to work in partnership not because it easier but because it is better.

Alex Araujo, Partners International

We want people to believe in partnering for missions, to want to do it, to be attracted to it. Therefore, it is quite normal when presenting the idea to emphasize the potential and real benefits of partnering.

It is commendable that we focus most of our energies on the positive, beneficial aspects of partnerships.  It is precisely these things that make it worth the effort.  Yet, ignoring or avoiding thinking about cost and pain can undermine our ability to achieve those positive and beneficial aspects.

Does Working Together Really Make a Difference?

When we ask "Why partnership?" a number of answers come to mind.

  • The relational benefits alone are enormous.
  • Efficiency and effectiveness is often increased.
  • It makes sense in the current world climate.
  • Most notably, though, partnership is strongly supported in scripture, and
    it really works.

The Biblical Basis for Partnership
Scripture is clear in its call for believers to work together in unity. Christians usually agree in theory, but have had a difficult time in practice. Organizational pride, personal egos, finances and independent agendas often keep Christians from working with others outside their own church or organization. In addition, concepts of unity without a scriptural basis in Christ have made some believers suspicious.
In fact, the Scriptures have much to say about the calling to a life of partnership.

Success Stories and Partner Testimonies
God is moving as never before among the peoples of the world. Hundreds of mission agencies and churches are hard at work, spreading the Gospel and planting the church. Celebrate with us as you hear the stories of effective partnership ministry among the unreached.
