I was on my knees surrounded by Papuan Indonesians extending forgiveness to me.  We had just heard their heart-wrenching stories how foreign missionary predecessors had hurt them deeply.  Now for the first time in their lives they had the opportunity to share their feelings about the way they had been hurt.  Then followed tearful and heart-felt words of forgiveness to those missionaries represented through me.

Over 100 mission leaders from around the world were sitting at 16 tables being facilitated by non-western leaders.  How would these mostly young table facilitators do providing guidance to many older and more experienced leaders?

About IPA

On 4 November 2003, the Board of Trustees of Interdev announced it was passing the baton of partnership development ministry to Interdev Partnership Associates (IPA). IPA (now known as International Partnering Associates) continues to facilitate and develop partnering as a key strategy to bring the Gospel to the world’s least-reached peoples. This responds to the continuing widespread need and demand for help in partnering for mission. We Partnering Associates have a strong commitment to each other as a team, and have determined to carry on partnering ministry through a covenant-based association. Today, through 50 globally-based Regional Partnering Associates, we serve over 450 mission entities around the world.

Toronto 2011

Summit Summary

Great fellowship, lots of good food, the Niagara Falls, welcoming new members, fresh involvement of young leaders, prayer, partnership tools, refreshment in ministry, first time seeing snow fall, being stretched and renewed – all of these are memories of our 2011 IPA Summit at Guelph Bible Conference Center  in Toronto, Canada April 4-9.

IPA Members and invited guests met together for these five days, beginning each day with a Biblical Reflection and Discussion which focused on a specific Partnership Dilemma.  The second half of each morning included Plenary Sessions that addressed Leadership & Fundraising, Member Health, and IPA Business Matters. Workshops, called Learning Together, were held in the afternoons. These included Coaching Leaders, Member Health, Prayer in Partnerships, and Fund Raising.

The highlight of this Summit was welcoming 8 young leaders into our midst. They attended a Young Leaders Gathering before the Summit where they received an introduction to IPA. They then stayed on to attend the actual Summit. They brought a freshness and vitality that was invigorating to our time together. Six of them became IPAssociates at the conclusion of our Summit, along with 1 other “older” leader who also officially became a member.

Plans are already being made for IPA’s 2012 Summit to be held in Turkey, starting on March 7th.
